A catamaran is a generally double hull, sometime with three hulls, it could be a trimaran, but for higher efficiency for load speed ratio to maintain, the catamaran hulls are best for solar powered boat construction. Solar powered batteries provide the juice for the motors to propel the boats. If the hull face less drag from the surface friction of the waters, the better is the efficiency of the boat. Therefore, a catamaran is best suited for solar powering the ship propulsion.
